INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - President Joko Widodo requested that there be a change of paradigm related to how to increase profits for farmers through agribusiness process.

"If we want to give big profits to the farmers, once again our paradigm must be changed, must enter the business sector, agribusiness sector," said President Joko Widodo in the opening of a limited meeting (ratas) at the Presidential Office Jakarta, Tuesday (12 / / 2017)

The Ratas discussed "Coorporating Farmers" followed by Amran Sulaiman, Minister of Agriculture and Spatial Planning / Head of National Land Agency Sofyan Djalil, Minister of National Planning and Development (PPN) / Head of Bappenas, Bambang Brodjonegoro.

Next, a number of other Ministers of Working Cabinet plus East Java Governor Sukarwo, Central Java Governor Gandjar Pranowo and chairman of PT Sukabumi Luwarso, the People's Business Entity (BUMR).

"This paradigm is what we want to do so that the farmers should have their own seed industry, have modern production applications, now it is not expensive, have modern mills, this price is also not expensive if 'backed up' by banking origin of the calculations 'feasible', from the bank entry there and calculated 'bankable'," said President.

The meeting also discussed some groundbreaking steps in order to improve the welfare of farmers.

"Because if we look at the welfare of peasants, the exchange rate of peasants is a very fundamental issue and if we look back many years back, we are working on the 'on fam' of it," added the President.

"On fam" is meant by the President is the cultivation sector from the processing of seeds to produce the harvest.

"We forget the farmers will get a big advantage of the actual business process, from the agribusiness process not because in the sector of cultivation.Again the added value of high, large added value is in the business process, agro business process," said the President.

Even so, the President admitted that he did not underestimate the cultivation sector related to seeds, fertilizers to insecticides.

"Do not let us too bekutat in the cultivation sector related to seeds, fertilizers, associated with insecticides. This is right it is important but if we want to give big profits once again we must change the paradigm, must enter the business sector, agribusiness sector," said the President, asserting.

The discussion on agribusiness follows the President's visit to PT BUMR Interconnected Food on September 1, 2017. Co-operative rice processing rice that is done in modern, processed rice is also packed in an attractive and modern form that can be directly marketed to consumers.

PT BUMR Interconnected Food processing rice is from upstream to downstream by cooperating with farmers around. The cooperative also provides assistance and helps provide capital loans by conducting a review first.

During the planting period, farmers always coordinate with the cooperative. The harvest was then processed using modern technology. Later, the proceeds from the sale of rice will be shared with the farmers. The rice is distributed directly to retail stores or using social media to be marketed to its customers.
