Vice President JK Leads Indonesian Delegation at UN General Assembly

INDUSTRY.co.id - New York - Vice President M Jusuf Kalla leads the Indonesian delegation at a summit at the 72nd United Nations General Assembly at UN headquarters in New York, United States, Tuesday (19/09/2017)
Vice President Jusuf Kalla was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani and Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi sat in the second row to the right of the podium and the fourth row from the front of the podium.
The Indonesian delegation is side by side with delegates from India on the right and Iran on the left. The order of delegation seat placement is based on the alphabet of 193 member states of the United Nations.
In the 72nd UN High School, Indonesia continues to campaign to be accepted as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the period 2019-2020.
Previously, Indonesia had served three times as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in 1973-1974, 1995-1996, and 2007-2008.
"On paper we have a great chance to be elected as non-permanent members of the UN Security Council," the vice president said.
The Vice President explained that Indonesia has always been active in sending peacekeeping troops. Currently, there are 2,800 personnel of peacekeepers from Indonesia who are on duty around the world.
"And it will continue to increase up to 4,000 personnel," said the Vice President.
Indonesia will compete with the Maldives to be elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council and will only be decided at SMU 2018. (Ant)
