Shooting incident, Freeport temporarily closes Mine Road Access

INDUSTRY.co.id - Timika - PT Freeport Indonesia's management temporarily closed Timika mine access road to Tembagapura and vice versa after the unidentified shooting incident of the company's three vehicle units at Mil 61, Tembagapura District, Mimika Regency, Sunday morning (24/09/2017)
PT Freeport Indonesia spokesman who is also Vice President Corporate Communications of PT Freeport Riza Pratama, contacted from Timika on Sunday, said the closure of the main mine line lasted for 24 hours according to the procedure.
"This action is being done so that internal security officers and security personnel can investigate the area thoroughly and ensure the area is safe again," Riza said.
As a result of that incident, he said, the employee bus convoy from the lowland area of Timika to the upland plateau in Tembagapura on the way was finally stopped to return to the Timika Gorong -Bus Terminal.
"So also for the convoy of vehicles in the afternoon, for both directions canceled.For the way our mine road closes until the conditions are conducive," said Riza also.
Mimika Police Chief AKBP Victor Dean Mackbon said the unidentified shooting incident occurred on Sunday morning at around 09.41 WIT around Mil 61, Tembagapura District, Mimika Regency.
"There were no casualties in the incident," Victor said.
