Mount Agung
INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Head of Pusdatin and Public Relation of National Disaster Management Agency Sutopo Purwo Nugroho asked the community not to spread false news or hoax (hoax) related to the eruption of Gunung Agung in Karangasem, Bali.
"People are encouraged not to believe and spread misleading news because the eruption of the mountain can not be predicted," said Sutopo in Jakarta, Monday (25/09/2017)
According to him, false news can cause panic in the community, especially related to Mount Agung, which currently shows signs of eruption, so it needs to anticipate the mobilization of the community around the mountain.
There is a tendency, he said, the public share content that can not be accounted related to Mount Agung. For example, there is a chain message in social media about Mount Agung erupting or Mount Agung eruption video. In fact, audio visual content is not relevant to the current context.
Mountain eruption, he said, can not be predicted as Mount Agung, which until now has entered a critical period in the alert level. It's just that the mountain will give a certain mark if it will erupt, like the frequent earthquake. Generally, if there is an earthquake tremor or vibration in the ground continuously for a long time then the eruption will occur in the near future.
