Fulfill Target National Electricity Program, PLTGU Grati Pasuruan Adds Electricity Production Capacity

INDUSTRY.co.id - Pasuruan - Grati Gas Steam Power Plant (PLTGU) in Pasuruan, increasing its electricity production capacity to 1,360 megawatt (MW). The additional capacity of PLTGU Grati is done to fulfill the target of 35,000 MW of national electricity program which is set by President of Indonesia Joko Widodo.
"The capacity of the previous Grati PLTGU of 760 MW consists of Block I of 460 MW and PLTGt (gas turbine) Block II of 300 MW, while the additional capacity of 600 MW consists of the construction of Block III PLTGU Grati Peaker Extension of 450 MW and additional capacity Block II of 150 MW," said Manager of UPR Kit East Java Bali Part (JBTB) II, Rusmanto to beritajatim.com, Tuesday (26/09/2017).
He explained that the construction of Block III and additional Block II has been started since June 2016. And now in the progress of engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) work has reached 81.77% and construction work progress reach 46.02%.
"The work progress of 81.77% is very good, because until now, PT PLN has only paid 25% of all work, so stated that the construction of Block III of PLTGU Grati is safe," he said.
According to him, with the fast work, the construction of Block III and the additional capacity of Block II of 150 MW can start operating in December 2017 and mid 2018 later.
"The project is very secure, because it is only paid 25%, the work has reached 81.77% .There will be an additional state capital participation (PMN) of Rp 470 billion in this project," he added.
Meanwhile, Legal Communication and Administration Manager of PLN Distribution East Java, Wisnu Yulianto said, with the production of Grati PLTGU will be a power supplier for East Java and Java-Bali electricity.
The surplus of electric power for East Java which currently has a surplus of 2600 MW will be greater and can be utilized for electricity in the Java-Bali region. "The additional capacity of PLTGU Grati is in accordance with the target set by the government, including the development of tourism industry in Bali," he concluded.
