INDUSTRY.co.id - Medan - Holding PT Perkebunan Nusantara III (Persero) estates as of August 2017 achieved net profit of Rp478 billion.
"The net profit rose sharply 130 percent compared to the same period in 2016 which still suffered losses worth Rp1, 57 trillion," said Director of Plantation Holding Nusantara Dasuki Amsir in a statement received in Jakarta, Thursday (12/10/2017).
According to him, profits come from increased sales, increased productivity of crops and the success of efficiency programs in all lines of business.
Dasuki Amsir explained the sale of Holding Perkebunan Nusantara during January-August 2017 increased by 9 percent to Rp21, 16 trillion compared to the same period in 2016 which is still Rp19, 5 trillion.
The productivity of palm oil commodities increased by 18 percent compared to the same period of 2016.
"Throughout 2016, the transformation program executed by Holding Perkebunan Nusantara has been running on track, and management believes that the performance improvement will continue until the end of 2017," he said.
Confidence is getting stronger as the earnings improvement trend from the beginning of the year continues.
Dasuki added, the performance improvement in Holding Perkebunan Nusantara subsidiary also experienced improvement from month to month and it proved that the transformation program had a positive effect and has been running evenly throughout PTPN.
With a positive performance achievement during the period of January-August 2017, Dasuki is optimistic that Holding Perkebunan Nusantara management is able to meet the targets set forth in the Company's Budget Work Plan (RKAP) 2017.
"By continuing to implement the 'coorporate turnaround' strategy and maintaining performance in the remaining 2017, the 2017 RKAP target is optimistic to be realized," he said.
He acknowledged, the management continues to focus on improving productivity and efficiency in all lines in order to achieve efficient and consistent production prices.
With that step, then if there is a decrease in commodity prices, the condition will not have a significant effect on the financial performance of the company.
Dasuki said Plantation Holding implements efficiency in various lines by considering the company's cost structure.
One form of efficiency, among others, is the provision of fertilizer by Holding which is believed to reduce prices to be cheaper and prevent wastage.
Meanwhile, to improve productivity in running the operation, management ensures the management and the process run well according to SOP starting from technical planting, maintenance, fertilization, harvesting, to transportation to the processing plant.
"Being acknowledged to achieve these targets requires IT development support in providing more accurate data to control productivity, efficiency, and make better decisions," said Dasuki.
