17 Indonesian Universities Enter the Best Asian Campus Rank

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Educational institutions in Indonesia are increasingly recognized by the education world in Asia by showing a proud quality. This year as many as 17 universities in Indonesia entered into the 400 ranking of the best campus in Asia version of Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). In a report titled QS Asia University Rankings 2018, University of Indonesia (UI) and Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) entered the top 100 campuses in Asia.
In the previous year, QS Asia University Rankings released a report containing 11 Indonesian campuses that entered the 351 best campuses. The six Indonesian campuses that succeeded in this year's best 400 are Hasanuddin University (Makassar), Universitas Pelita Harapan (Tangerang), Udayana University (Denpasar), Sebelas Maret University (Solo), Atma Jaya Catholic University (Jakarta) and Catholic University of Parahyangan Bandung).
UI ranking rose from 67 position in the last year to 54 this year. This is the highest position ever achieved by UI. ITB also rose dramatically from 86th position in 2017 to position 65th in 2018. Next Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) rose from 105 in 2017 to 85 in 2018. QS Asia University Ranking 2018 released the results of a rating conducted on more than 400 colleges of 17 countries in Asia. In addition to UI, ITB, and UGM, there are several other universities that are included in the assessment of QS Asia University Ranking 2018.
These campuses are Bogor Agricultural University (147), Airlangga University (171), Padjadjaran University (176), Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology / ITS (232), Diponegoro University (240). Then, Bina Nusantara University was ranked 251-260, Universitas Brawijaya (291-300), Hasanuddin University (301-350), University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta (301-350), Atma Jaya Catholic University (351-400), Universitas Pelita Harapan 351-400), Udayana University (351-400), Sebelas Maret University (351-400), and Parahyangan Catholic University (351-400).
QS Asia University Ranking in 2017 includes 11 Indonesian campuses from 351 campuses in Asia region. UI is ranked 67th, ITB (86), UGM (105), Airlangga University (190), IPB (191), Unpad (199) Undip (231-240), University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta (251-300), ITS (251 -300), Universitas Brawijaya (251-350), and Universitas Bina Nusantara (251-350).
Meanwhile, the QS World University Ranking 2018 version states UI is ranked 54th in the category of campus in Asia, while globally ranked 277. In the ranking of courses, UI ranked # 151-200 for accounting and finance. UI ratings for graduate absorption are at position # 251-300.
On a size scale, UI is categorized as 30,000 students over 100 years old and middle-level research. From Top Universities, UI is the best reputable campus among other universities in Indonesia. In the version of The Times Higher Education Supplement 2009, UI was ranked 34th out of 201 universities in the world. UI does have a mission to become a world-class research university.
UI Rector Muhammad Anis revealed this achievement indirectly shows that educational institutions in Indonesia have been recognized by education in Asia. He said the UI will always run with a national education flag to produce graduates who are independent and superior and ready to face and solve problems and challenges at national and global level.
"The achievement of UI cannot be separated from the fulfillment of all parameters. Based on the results of calculations conducted QS team, UI excel at the quality of educators, academic reputation, the number of foreign educators in UI, as well as teaching and learning activities in each faculty," said Anis.
In addition, other indicators successfully met include significant improvements in journal publications, university and faculty management of human resources, and organizational governance that includes culture. Furthermore, the results are influenced by the habits, policies, and efforts of internationalization of student communities and educators. This effort is also in accordance with government programs to improve the quality of higher education, research, and innovation in order to support the competitiveness of the nation.
Next, ITB ranked 331 in the world's best campus and Asia ranked 65th. In the ranking of courses ranked # 51-100 with art and design lessons. The level of absorption reaches # 301-500. For research, ITB get high category, with the number of students to 30,000 people.
Under it UGM ranked # 401-401 and in Asia at position 85. Ranking courses are at position # 51-100 with a performance art lesson. Absorption rate reached # 301-500. In terms of research, UGM is at the middle level.
Meanwhile, Head of Public Information Office Unpad Bandung Ade Kadarisman said very grateful the rank of Unpad Bandung both in Asia and Indonesia increased significantly. In Asia, Unpad is ranked 176, while in Indonesia at number 6 or up 200 points compared to 2017.
"Unpad Bandung continues to coordinate internally in an effort to meet various aspects of ranking and communicate with various related parties," said Ade.
