OJK Remove Permit Ten Ten LKM Syariah

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta- The Financial Services Authority issues operating licenses for ten Sharia Micro Finance Institutions (LKM Syariah) which are expected to empower and improve the welfare of the community, especially in the pesantren and surrounding areas.

Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of OJK Wimboh Santoso said in a statement received in Jakarta on Friday that the establishment of Islamic finance institutions is part of a financial inclusion program that includes role models such as pesantren caregivers.

The program was launched in order to improve access to finance to small communities and address the issue of inequality and poverty that is in line with current government programs.

"The Shari'ah MFI aims to improve welfare through community empowerment within the pesantren environment.The main characteristics of this institution are group counseling and approaches, not raising funds from the community, funding sources from donors, and channeling financing with low yields, 3 percent equivalent, "explained Wimboh as quoted by Antara.

Ten Islamic MFIs within the Pondok Pesantren that already have OJK license and supervised, namely LKM Syariah Kempas Kempek Cirebon, LKM Syariah Buntet Pesantren Cirebon and LKM Syariah Berkah Bersama Baiturrahman Bandung.

Then, LKM Syariah Ranah Indah Darussalam Ciamis, LKM Syahah Amanah Berkah Nusantara Purwokerto, LKM Syariah Wakaf Bank Alpansa Klaten and LKM Syariah Almuna Berkah Mandiri DIY.

In addition, LKM Syariah Blessing Rizqi Lirboyo Kediri, LKM Syariah Denanyar Source Barokah Jombang and LKM Syariah An Nawawi Banten.

Wimboh ensures that prospective customers of LKM Syariah will get basic training first before receiving financing.

Prospective customers will also be given periodic assistance on business development along with religious education conducted during group meetings.

Syariah LKM funding sources come from donors who have concerns in community empowerment programs through the establishment of Islamic Sharia LKM in Pesantren.

"OJK will continue to drive the Sharia LKM program to other pesantrens throughout Indonesia the community empowerment program through the Shariah LKM in pesantren is our proposal to become the flagship program of the National Committee for Islamic Finance (KNKS) chaired by the President," Wimboh said.
