INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta- Limited State Electricity Company Limited (Persero) is able to save Rp3, 5 trillion per year after the operation of a transformer with a capacity of 500 kilovolt in Extra High Voltage Substrate Cibinong, West Java.

Central Business Director of PLN Central Java Amir Rosidin in a release in Jakarta on Monday (10/30/2017) said PLN always strives to maintain reliability of power supply by continuing to strengthen power distribution lines.

"Today (Monday) 'interbus transformer' (IBT) Unit 3 in Gitet Cibinong officially operates," he said.

According to him, the IBT Extra High Voltage Transmitter (GITET) Cibinong 500 kV is capable of transferring power of 500 megavolt amperes (MVA) from 500 kv to 150 kv, which is then channeled to strengthen the reliability of power supply in Karawang and Bekasi.

On the other hand, he continued, IBT operation also brings benefits to PLN in an effort to reduce the cost of production (BPP) of electric power.

"The potential savings of BPP from IBT Unit 3 amounted to Rp3.5 trillion per year by substituting power supplies from high-cost generating plants to be replaced by generators whose production costs are cheaper than the 500 kv system," he said.

BPP decline, he added, is a program of PLN in order to provide reliable electricity at a cheap rate.

Amir added that he accelerated the construction of IBT Cibinong transformers to meet the needs of PLN customers in parts of West Java.

"Accelerating the completion of IBT Cibinong development is not without obstacles, but with the communication and synergy of all stakeholders, Alhamdulillah these obstacles can be overcome." We present IBT Unit 3 as the 72nd National Electric Day present," said Amir.

According to him, the operation of IBT Unit 3 Cibinong has gone through a series of rigorous trials before it is declared eligible to operate.

"Testing among others is done with the provision of stress for 24 hours and also test loading," he said.
