Kominfo Urged to Remove Porn Content on WhatsApp App

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta -The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology urged to block porn content in the WhatsApp short message application. This content is hidden in the animated grapihcs interchange format (GIF) menu when users search for it with sex keywords.

It was stated, the Chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives Abdul Kharis in a written statement, Monday (11/6/2017) that the content of pornography in the application WhatsApp (WA) is considered dangerous, because there is no filter feature, so anyone can access it.

"The content is very dangerous because there is no filter feature, so anyone can access it, I ask to block the WA content related to porn content," said Abdul Kharis in Jakarta

The Government has the authority to terminate access to unlawful electronic information in Indonesia. He also urged the MoCI together with the Police to investigate this matter.

"We ask the WA porn content case was investigated thoroughly," he said
