Government Does Not Block Whatsapp Related Negative Content

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Communications and Informatics Minister Rudiantara said the government will not block the "WhatsApp" message app related to the emergence of pornographic content in the format of "graphics interchange format" or GIF in the application.
Minister Rudiantara explained that the government is more focused on eliminating GIF content itself rather than blocking applications that are still widely used by the community.
"Whatsapp is like a supermarket, we are not closing the supermarket because people are still going in. We are focusing on the bad stuff, GIF, which has started to decrease," said Rudiantara after attending the event at BPS office in Jakarta on Tuesday 7/11/2017)
He said although the blocking of negative content has not reached 100 percent, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and operators have blocked Tenor, the GIF provider.
The six domain name system (DNS) Tenor that has been blocked Kemkominfo, namely tenor.com, api.tenor.com, blog.tenor.com, qa.tenor.com, media.tenor.com, and media1.tenor.com.
In addition, he also appreciated the operators of Internet providers who have done the blocking of Tenor although not done simultaneously and need more time.
Previously, Kemkominfo has given 2x24 hours since Monday (6/11) so that the WhatsApp parties immediately withdraw the negatively charged content in their application.
There is also to ensure that the content of immoral content does not reappear, Kemkominfo will conduct continuous monitoring and encourage the public to submit reports.
"The content is billions; maybe someone has escaped, so I ask for support from the community. Tell us," he said.
