INDUSTRY.co.id - Chiang Mai - Oceania Asia's pest-control services industry gathered to discuss the challenges facing the industry in the Pest Managers' Association (FAOPMA) Pest Summit 2017 in Chiang Mai, Thailand (22/11 / 2017).
Chairman of the Association of Indonesian Pest Control Companies (ASPPHAMI), Boyke Arie Pahlevi said the pest control industry is the service industry. Currently the challenge and the needs of this industry is more to the quality management system, competent human resources and application of technological innovation.
"Service users, especially industrial sectors that have implemented ISO, GMP, HACCP or OHSAS will choose a pest control company that has a good management system, competent human resources with agricultural pest background, environmental health, sanitation and vector diseases, as well as the ability to apply pest control technology innovation, especially now is the time of IOT (Internet of Think), so the competition in this industry is a global competition, "said Boyke.
According to him, in the face of global competition in the pest control industry does require large capital, but not true if to become big in this industry must do merger.
"Being big and able to compete globally in this industry can be done alone or with own capital, can also by looking for investors, IPO or affiliates," said Boyke.
It hopes that national pest control industry players can improve their competence and capacity scale to answer the challenges of this industry in the future.
According to him, in Indonesia regulatory support in pest control industry is good enough and complete, the implementation of regulations in the private sector is already running, as well as in the central government environment, improved.
"Public awareness of the impact of urban pest hazards is still minimal, which we need is promotion and socialization that we feel needs to be improved," he said.
According to him, the support of the provincial government or district or city is also still very minimal. Pest control activities in the local government itself currently only around 5%, even some local governments have not run this activity in the environment.
"Residential pest management still needs further attention because the various vectors of disease are still the scourge of public health, without exception in urban areas," Boyke said.
In addition to discussing the challenges of the pest control industry, (FAOPMA) Pest Summit 2017 also focuses on the discussion of innovative pest management. The event was attended by 1400 conference participants from 35 countries and 70 exhibitors from around the world.
