INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) Muhadjir Effendy said teachers should be role models of character education.
"On the momentum of National Teacher Day we should make it as a reflection on whether our teachers have become a role model for learners, and whether we also have enough to glorify our teachers who have struggled to educate and shape our character to become a strong and successful person," said Mendikbud in Jakarta, Saturday (25/11/2017)
The theme of the teacher's day this year is "Building Character Education through Master's Example". The theme, said Mendikbud, is closely related to the implementation of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 87 of 2017 on Strengthening Character Education (KDP). In the Presidential Regulation, the President mandated that teachers as the main figure in the unit of education.
"Teachers should be able to play an important role or role model for their students, and teachers should be a source of exemplary." Mendikbud explained that the HGN warning is also a strategic evaluation point for government policy making. These policies include making teachers more competent, professional, protected, and in turn more prosperous, noble, and dignified.
"Providing teacher professional allowances for certified teachers, as well as special allowances for teachers serving in special areas will continue to be of concern," Mendikbud told media crews.
In addition, teachers who have multiple skills to meet the needs of vocational education will continue at the same level with the GKD program to achieve equitable quality education.
"Central government efforts certainly have limitations, therefore we give appreciation to all parties who have helped improve the capacity and competence of teachers," said Mendikbud.
In addition to these programs, to meet the needs of teachers in the regions, the government provides affirmation programs, consisting of Undergraduate Education Programs in Outlying, Least and Disadvantaged Areas (SM3T), Programs for the Provision of Education Subsidies for Convertible Education of GTK PAUD and DIKMAS, and Program Diklat Terapal for PAUD Educators.
"It needs a role of local government to participate in the redistribution of teachers, improve competence, and meet the welfare of teachers who are still below minimum standards," the message Mendikbud.
This year's HGN series runs from 23 to 26 November 2017. Some of these activities are Learning Innovation Competition or Management Unit of PAUD and DIKMAS, School Principal and School Supervisor Symposium, Teacher's Competition, Nation Innovation Art Competition, and Master's Seminar Basic education.
