"The area of land (oil palm) in North Sumatra is 470,000 hectares, which needs to be rejuvenated 350,000 hectares, very big and cost is not small but we have to do, otherwise we only see palm oil 25-30 years old are not productive, should be rejuvenated," said President Joko Widodo in Central Village Village, Dolok Masihul Sub-district, Serdang Bedagai District, North Sumatera on Monday (27/11/2017)

The President conveyed it in the palm oil rejuvenation (PSR). North Sumatra Province is the second province to run a community palm oil rejuvenation program after it was launched in South Sumatra on October 13, 2017 The government will rejuvenate the people's garden of 9,109.29 hectares in North Sumatra.

"It is not excessive when oil palm is called green gold for our country of Indonesia because our country is the biggest palm oil producing country in the world, not in Asia or Southeast Asia but in the world," added the President.

That is, Indonesia became a producer country for raw materials of soap, cosmetics, cooking oil, margarine, leather industry, pharmaceutical which all came from oil palm.

"Now also starts raw materials for biodiesel later for cars, motorcycles mixed with biodiesel but remember also become the biggest palm oil producer that means we must be leading in management," said President.

In the management section, according to the President, Indonesia is still weak.

"Some people have 5, 10, 100 hectares, but management needs to be improved, we have to work hard here, how to care for, nurture, rejuvenate," added the President.

The government then committed to rejuvenate the palm oil plantations owned by the people that had started in the district of Musi Banyuasin covering 4,100 hectares in October 2017.

"Here the area of oil palm is 11.9 million hectares throughout Indonesia, which belongs to the people 4.6 million and we will do in North Sumatra 9,109 hectares," said President.

The total area of oil palm plantations in Indonesia is 11.9 million hectares and 4.6 million hectares are owned by the people.

"Of the 4.6 million hectares if it is done all at least 185 thousand hectares to be completed, it's a big job because there's no rejuvenation for decades, there should be cheap credit schemes, credit schemes from banks, supporting, backing up up palm oil owned by this people, this belongs to the people loh ya once again do not be deflected everywhere," said President.
