End of Year, Ministry of Industry will Trial 10 Electric Cars

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - the Ministry of Industry will conduct trials on two models of 10 electric cars owned by Mitsubishi at the end of December 2017. This trial will support further research on regulations to be issued related to "green" vehicles in Indonesia.
"We hope the regulation and facilities will come out early next year so that the incentives for electric cars will be boosted," said Minister of Industry (Menperin) Airlangga Hartarto in Jakarta (30/11/2017).
Previously, when met with CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation Osamu Masuko in Tokyo, October 2017, Menperin said that one of the largest automotive manufacturers in Japan will provide assistance in the form of 10 units of electric vehicle prototype for research in Indonesia.
Airlangga revealed, the government is reviewing the strategy of developing electric vehicles that will be produced by the automotive industry in the country.
The plan also seeks to lower sales tax on luxury goods (PPnBM) for environmentally friendly vehicles, including hybrid cars, electricity, or the like.
This type of transportation equipment will be included in government programs to encourage the production of low carbon emission vehicles (LCEV).
"The development of hybrid technology or electric vehicle in vehicles, is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while also reducing the import of fuel oil (BBM)," he said.
Menperin explained, the diversification of fuel into gas fuel, biofuels, or electric power in response to the current alternative energy needs in the transportation sector which is also able to generate economic benefits in inclusive.
Furthermore, Airlangga added, the government is targeting in 2025 about 25 percent or 400 thousand units of LCEV vehicles have entered the Indonesian market. A number of manufacturers have prepared their products to market.
"For example, PT Nissan Motor Indonesia which has presented the electric car Note e-Power ever tested by Menperin, some time ago," he added.
