UBL-ITS Create Electric Car for the 2019 Dakar Rally

Budi Luhur University and ITS Surabaya collaborate to prepare electric cars that will be used in the 2019 Dakar rally event.
INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - University of Budi Luhur and ITS Surabaya collaborate to prepare electric cars that will be used in the 2019 Dakar rally event.
Besides aiming to follow the annual competition, this cooperation is also academic in creating patents and intellectual property of the nation's children in order to advance applied knowledge and knowledge.
Electric car result of this cooperation is named BLITS, which stands for Budi Luhur and ITS.
This car uses rear-wheel drive with electric-powered engine that is able to generate power of 100hp at 6000rpm. As a storage of electrical energy, BLITS uses a battery capacity of 95kWh that can travel a distance of 250 kilometers with an average speed of 100 kilometers per hour.
Dean of Budi Luhur University Faculty of Engineering, Sujono, explained that the strong desire to return to action in the Dakar Rally has encouraged the student team of ITS, Budi Luhur student team and Idek workshop team from Yogyakarta to work together to create the first domestic products to appear in the event.
"With the realization of this cooperation, it is expected to be able to raise the spirit of the entire academic community of Budi Luhur University, and the Indonesian Nation.This is also proof that we are able to create reliable electric cars to be included in the Dakar Rally," said Didik Sulistyanto, Rector of Budi Luhur University in broadcast it said on Thursday (21/12)
Later this electric car will be driven by Kasih Hanggoro, racer who had come down in the event of Dakar Rally in 2010 and 2011. Aang, Hanggoro familiar greeting, is also chairman of the board of Budi Luhur Cakti Foundation
