INDUSTRY.co.id - Kupang - General Manager of PT Pelindo III Tenau Kupang, I Putu Sukadana, said that the container flow out of East Nusa Tenggara Province reaches about 10 percent or is still small compared to total goods.
"It must be admitted that the goods coming out of NTT is still rare, our data from the full container that goes to Kupang or some other area that 100 incoming out full is only 10 boxes, even sometimes it can be less than that," said I Putu Sukadana in Kupang, yesterday.
For that, he said, in every meeting with the local government it continues to encourage that container transport can be maximized one of them by providing the processing industry.
He said earlier that the flow of containers coming out of the province was supported by the energy sector or geothermal project on the island of Flores but has been reduced as the project completes.
Sukadana hopes that other industrial sectors such as cement, food, and cattle meat processing in the future can grow considering the readiness of the container flow has been very supportive.
He gave an example, such as the plan of utilization of containers that have been agreed with his company to manage sugar cane plantation in East Sumba regency, Sumba Island.
"We have an MoU with the company and we are ready to support the transportation facilities, in the near future there is a study DED (Design Engineering Detail) to build a pier to support the growth of the sugar factory there," he told the media crew.
Furthermore, Sukadana explained that the container return flows, especially from the Port of Tenau Kupang in the future, can be supported by the presence of Bolok Industrial Zone developed by the local government.
To that end it is preparing support facilities such as expanding the capacity of the dock to anticipate the increased flow of containers.
"Currently we have a total dock length of about 550 meters which is shared in some terminals but if we look at the trend ahead it may not be enough, so we push for the expansion to the north side," he said.
