Minister of Transportation Budi Reveals 30 Percent of Unfit Road Buses

INDUSTRY.co.id - Semarang - Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said as many as 30 percent of buses are not roadworthy so it is considered dangerous to passengers and must be fixed some equipment.

"Indeed, we must admit it is still disappointing about the attention of public transport operators to the safety of passengers, it is evident that there are still buses that are not roads but forced the way," said Minister of Transportation Budi Karya to the media crew, in Semarang, Sunday (31/12/2017)

It was delivered when he conducted a random test of a number of buses carrying passengers associated with Christmas holidays 2017 and New Year 2018.

According to him, the central and local governments have often conducted a passenger safety campaign that all public transport must be done routine checks before departure.

Nevertheless, he said, there are still bus operators who ignore the safety of not wanting to check the buses and trucks that will operate.

"The government will not play games when it comes to safety and law enforcement against violators will be subject to strict sanctions," he said again.

Seeing still found the bus is not road worthy, Minister of Transportation said the government will be more active campaigning for the safety of passengers and ask the community also actively participate.

Director General of Land Transportation Kemenhub Budi Setiadi said public transport operators should not take much profit, but ignores the safety of passengers.

"We found out there was a rear tire bus was cracked and told to replace with spare tire, but it turns out the spare tire is bald, too," he said again.

For that, he asked the driver not to continue the trip and lower passengers and move it using another bus.

He appealed to the public also care about his safety by not taking a bus that is considered unworthy road.
