INDUSTRY.co.id -Jakarta - The country's smartphone market continues to grow, IDC noted Vivo maintains its position as the top 5 Indonesian smartphones per 3rd quarter of 2017. In 2018, PT Vivo Mobile Indonesia set up a strategy to maintain consumer confidence and increase market share.
In early 2017, the government imposed a Domestic Composition Regulation or TKDN of 30% for every 4G smartphone industry in Indonesia.
Vivo, which has built its first plant in Cikupa, Banten by the end of 2016, is able to exceed TKDN standards by 32% by 2017. Vivo is one of 16 smartphone companies in Indonesia that is able to maintain TKDN's contribution to every product in Indonesia.
Welcoming the year 2018, Vivo Smartphone is also ambitious to provide more space for the contribution of hardware and local software.
"The target of 35% is still very realistic to achieve. We welcome the positive discourse of increasing TKDN by the end of 2018 by the Ministry of Industry," said Edy Kusuma, Brand Manager of PT Vivo Mobile Indonesia in Jakarta, Thursday (4/1/2018).
Currently, Vivo is expanding its second plant in Cikupa, Banten, which has more lines and is ready to meet production targets for domestic needs.
In December 2017, Vivo stated that millions of smartphones have been produced throughout the year 2017 and continue to be distributed to various regions throughout Indonesia.
To increase production amid rising demand, Vivo also said it would increase labor absorption per year. Recorded, 14,000 workers who are majority local people have become part of the Vivo Smartphone family per fourth quarter of 2017.
For the local employment target, as part of the long-term business investment in Indonesia, Vivo will make more stringent selection, to ensure that the quality of potential human resources can be absorbed maximally.
"Production system that has global standard, will also be followed by reliable human resources and understand the work ethics of Vivo Smartphone in Indonesia," said Edy.
