Minister Jonan Expects ExxonMobil to Increase Oil and Gas Production in Indonesia

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - In a follow-up visit to the United States, ESDM Minister Ignatius Jonan met with senior oil and gas contractors (KKKS) contractors at their headquarters.

On the occasion, Minister Jonan discussed opportunities to increase oil and gas production in Indonesia with Exxon Mobil Corporation and Schlumberger Limited.

Located at Exxon Mobil Campus and Technology Center, Texas, production activities in Cepu Block (Banyu Urip field and Jambaran-Tiung Biru) and East Natuna Block became the subject of the meeting of Jonan with Senior Vice President (SVP) Exxon Mobil Corporation, Mark W. Albers.

Jonan said, ExxonMobil Cepu Limited (ECML) is expected to increase Banyu Urip field production to 300,000 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) from about 200,000 BOPD.

"With the increase of production, I hope to be able to give a double effect to the surrounding area through the development of national and local companies, opening up employment to community development," said Jonan in a written statement on Friday (28/07/2017).

In response, ExxonMobil responded positively by conducting a further field development potential.

In addition, Minister Jonan also expects ExxonMobil to make the downstream sector as a new investment area in Indonesia, such as opening a Public Filling Station (SPBU) or aromatic development in Indonesia.

Currently, PT ExxonMobil Lubricants Indonesia (PT ELMI) represents ExxonMobil Company that develops downstream and petrochemical sectors.

On the same day, Jonan also discussed with Imran Kizilbash, SVP Schlumberger Venture Fund Schlumberger Limited discusses new investment plans in oil and gas field development.

In this regard, Schlumberger offers two ways to increase oil and gas exploration and production activities in Indonesia, through multiclient surveys in areas approved by the Government especially in the eastern offshore and upstream oil and gas management data management.

In addition to being a provider of goods and services in the oil and gas sector, Schlumberger also has an investment program in oil and gas field development as it has done in Latin America amounting to US $ 4.6 billion.
