INDUSTRY.co.id - Bandung - Company producer of vaccine PT Bio Farma (Persero) will make serum anti difteri (ADS) which produced domestically with the price far cheaper than the existing price at this time.

President Director of Bio Farma Juliman at the office of Bio Farma Bandung, Saturday (13/1/2018) said serum prices produced Bio Farma will be one-fifth cheaper.

Juliman explains the price of Bio Farma serum can be much more affordable because by producing entirely in the country compared to pay imported products from abroad.

As an illustration, he said, the price of one dose of ADS ranged from Rp2 million to Rp2, 5 million. In the treatment of diphtheria patients needed up to eight times the use of serum.

So the estimated cost of using ADS for one patient can reach Rp20 million. Juliman ensure the cost of using ADS Bio Farma production can be one fifth much cheaper than that range.

"Actually we can make ADS first, but with the import of semi-finished goods, because the supplier's factory is closed, we are now importing from India to buy so," he said.

Bio Farma plans to launch its own ADS products in September or October 2018.

ADS products that will be made Bio Farma produced from the manufacture of raw materials from the beginning to form a serum that is ready for use. Production capacity for the ADS can reach 15,000 vials.
