INDUSTRY.co.id - Simalugun - The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Ignatius Jonan inaugurated the National Geopark Information Center of Lake Toba Caldera in Parapat, Girsang Sipangan Bolon Sub-district, Simalungun District, North Sumatera on Thursday (18/1/2018).
In addition, on the same occasion also signed the submission manuscript Information Center submitted to the Vice Regent of Simalungun, Amran Sinaga.
In his speech the Minister of EMR expressed his hope that in the future this geocentric can develop into an international standard geocentric.
"This is one of the greatest geoparks on the mountain in the world, and even in Europe I do not see this big, the challenge is how to make it a tourist destination," said Jonan.
In addition to the operations of the Information Center, infrastructure is also a concern of the Government. Meanwhile, the Head of Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Rudy Suhendar said that the inauguration is part of the Government's effort to accelerate the recognition process of the Lake Toba Caldera as a world geological heritage and to become a member of UNESCO Global Geopark.
The National Geopark Information Center of Lake Toba Caldera presents a variety of information on the historical chronology of the super volcano events forming the volcano caldera as well as the uniqueness of other geological events.
In addition, the presence of a vast 17 x 8 meter space will provide education to the community in order to foster a sense of love in protecting the geological heritage and awareness of the importance of the preservation of the earth.
