HPN 2018, Padang City Students Take the Digital Citizenship Literacy Forum

INDUSTRY.co.id - Padang - Hundreds of students and students enthusiastically participate in Literacy Forum of Digital Citizenship for Millennial Generation held by Kominfo RI in cooperation with PWI Center and West Sumatera Provincial Government at Basco Hotel, Padang City, Wednesday (7/2/2018).
The literacy forum was opened directly by the Secretary General of Central PWI, Hendri Bangun. He said literacy and education for millennial is vital to continue to be encouraged in Indonesia to counter hoax information because this millennial generation is directly active in the Internet and social media.
Hendri also praised the activeness of West Sumatera students and enthusiasts who follow the literacy forum which is part of the 2018 National Press Day (HPN) series. "New HPN 2018 in Padang, students and students are so enthusiastic," he said.
Director General of IKP Kominfo Director General of IKP Rosarita Niken Widiastuti said that in the digital era, everyone is the owner of the media, because it can produce and disseminate information. According to him, this is the so-called mediamorphosis. "Mediamorphosis is very laboring on changes in cultural, political, economic, community life," he said.
In addition to Hoax information, which should be anticipated in mediamorphosis this is information about pornography, radicalism and terrorism. "Last year we blocked the Telegram app for loading radicasime content and terrorism," he described.
Niken also invites millennial generation to wisely adhere to ethical signs in social media to be positive, responsible and responsible information dissemination. "If you find news suspected hoax, please report to Kominfo," he added.
Academician and author Agus Sudibyo said the millennial generation should be able to utilize the advancement of information technology to become a successful young entrepreneur.
"Millennial generation should be able to master the technology, by using smartphones, internet, and social media to do business online," he described.
Agus also discussed about digital citizenship or digital civic, which makes the association more widespread, cross-country and cross-ethnic. According to him, this digital citizenship should be utilized to build a broad social solidarity by utilizing the internet for positive things.
