INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The government needs to absorb all the grain and rice produced by farmers in various regions to reduce the farmers' psychology as a result of rice import policy recently.

"The government should have a commitment to absorb all grain and rice farmers at a price level that is profitable for farmers," said Chairman of the Economics of Finance, Industry, Technology and Environment (Ekuintek) DPP PKS Memed Sosiawan in Jakarta, Monday (19/2 / 2018).

According to Memed Sosiawan, the government needs to heed the concerns of farmers on the psychological impact of prices arising from rice import policy.

For that, he said, the government should seek a more elegant way by showing the alignment to farmers.

"Whatever the level of grain prices of domestic farmers as long as their supplies and goods are available, the government is obliged to buy them, this policy as a form of glorifying farmers," he told media crews.

In addition, Memed affirmed that there are alignments to strengthen the institution of farmers so as to be able to partner with Bulog or rice mills, so that farmers will have high bargaining value to improve better welfare the government, he added, should restore the role of Bulog as a national food buffer institution in securing supply and price stability.

Previously, the government increased the extent of Bulog's grain price flexibility rate by 20 percent from the government's purchase price set forth in Presidential Instruction Number 5 of 2015 on the Policy on the Procurement of Unhusked Rice and Rice Distribution by the Government.
