Pavel Durov Meet Menkominfo Rudiantara Discusses Telegram Site Blocking

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta- Founder Telegram Pavel Durov meets Minister of Communications and Informatics, Rudiantara has been in Jakarta. This meeting discussed the blocking of Telegram
"We will discuss SOP in order to handle negative content in Telegram," said Rudiantara, at his office this afternoon, Tuesday (1/8/2017).
"In addition, we will discuss further who the person (their representative in Indonesia)," he added.
Rudiantara explained that he would explain the results of the meeting with Durov to the media crew at 15:00 pm.
As is known, 11 DNS Telegram is blocked by Kemenkominfo for allegedly containing a lot of negative content, especially terrorism.
Previously, the Ministry of Communications and Informatics blocked a web-based Telegram application on July 14, 2017 because it was used for the main negative content of terrorism and considered not in accordance with Indonesian laws and regulations.
The ministry itself before blocking has sent six emails to Telegram to handle negative content since last year. But unfortunately the email is not reciprocated so it was decided to be blocked.
Telegram party who just know the email that was posted after the news related to the blocking stated ready to establish communication with the Ministry of Communications and Informatics.
Minister of Communications and Informatics welcomes Telegram's readiness to communicate. The ministry said the normalization of web-based telegram applications awaiting the company's response in compliance with existing regulations.
Therefore, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics would like to follow up on this matter, such as the possibility of making 'government channel' in order to communicate with the Ministry of Communications and Informatics more quickly and efficiently. The Ministry requests to be granted authority as Trusted Flager against accounts or channels in Telegram services.
In addition, the Ministry also asked Telegram to open a representative office in Indonesia. This, according to the Directorate of Application and Informatics Samuel A Pangerapan to facilitate more coordination with his side, especially in handling negative content including terrorism.
