INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta- President Joko Widodo considers that the agricultural sector in West Sulawesi (Sulbar) is potential to be developed as the main driver of economic growth in the province.
For that, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held a limited meeting on the topic of Evaluation of National Strategic Project Implementation and Priority Program in West Sulawesi Province at the Presidential Office of Jakarta, Wednesday (2/8/2017)
"As one of the youngest provinces, I see that the province of West Sulawesi has great potential in both the agriculture, forestry and mining sectors," said President Jokowi.
His data is observed that the agricultural sector has been a key driver of economic growth in West Sulawesi.
In 2016 and the 1st quarter of 2017 recorded the contribution of the agricultural sector increased to 3.24 percent.
"And the movement in the agricultural sector helped boost economic growth in West Sulawesi and the 1st Quarter of 2017 economic growth reached 7.38 percent, I think it grows very high exceeds the national economic growth rate," he said.
Therefore, the momentum of economic growth in the first quarter, the President said, should be maintained.
That way, he added, is expected to absorb more labor, reduce inequality, and poverty rate.
"The poverty rate in West Sulawesi is currently at 11.19 percent," he said.
