Minister of Industry Requests Cosmetics Industry More Active Make Innovation and Promotion

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta, Minister of Industry (Menperin) Airlangga Hartarto called on national cosmetics industry to actively conduct synergy in research and development activities (RnD) with research institutes and universities. It aims to create product innovation according to current market needs.
"The cosmetics industry is inseparable from the creative sector or lifestyle, and it involves the linkage between IKM and large industries, so the success of this cosmetic industry needs a strong collaborative step between manufacturing and creativity," Airlangga said in Jakarta (19/3/2018).
He added that the supply chain system in the cosmetics industry must be built through mutually beneficial and needy relationships.
Moreover, this time has entered the era of Industry 4.0, where there will be a digital transformation that can create added value in the national cosmetics industry.
"Utilization of technology and digital intelligence ranging from the process of production and distribution to the level of consumers through e-commerce, providing new opportunities and improve the competitiveness of the national cosmetics industry with the changes in consumer tastes and lifestyle changes," he added.
In addition, Minister of Industry added, the need for massive promotion of local cosmetic products so that they can become more known in the international market.
"Our millenial generation is also an important key in this marketing innovation, through their social media because it is more effective and less costly, in fact, they consistently deliver cosmetic packages as souvenirs," he explained.
Airlangga said that ASEAN countries have started to focus on developing the potential of wellness industry, which includes pharmaceutical, herbal and cosmetic industries.
"So we also can not miss, we are competing with market leader in Asia, that is Korea, while Thailand is also doing industrial development in those sectors," he said.
Ministry of industry noted, Indonesia in 4th Rank as a herbal or herbal producer in the world after China, India and Korea. There are 30 thousand species of herbs grown in the country, and need to be utilized by the national industry.
"In addition to promoting our commodity superior products, also can introduce Indonesia as a producer of traditional medicine," he added.
