INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta, Indonesia is currently leading the automotive market in Southeast Asia with the highest number of car sales. But the top production champion is still held by Thailand.
Based on data from the Asean Automotive Federation (AAF), Indonesia leads the market as well as the only country with sales figures above 1.079 million units throughout 2017, growing 2% compared to the previous year's achievement of 1.061 million units.
In second place, Thailand accounted for 871,650 units, or grew 13 percent to 768,788 units.
However, in terms of production, Thailand led with a number of 1.988 million units or grew 2 percent compared with the achievements in the previous year 1.944 million units.
Compared with its domestic market, automobile production in Thailand reached 223.19 percent.
The car production in Indonesia is ranked second with 1.216 million units, growing 3 percent compared with the achievement in the previous year 1.177 million units.
Compared with its domestic market, the production of automobiles in Indonesia is only 112.69 percent.
