INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The government is committed to reducing waste in the oceans by 70 percent by 2025 with the support of real work from various parties including the private sector. As a form of government program support, Danone Aqua together with H & M Indonesia signed a cooperation to re-process plastic waste bins into fashion products.

Aqua president director Corine Tap said in a collaboration, Aqua will strengthen the collection of plastic bottles from Untung Jawa Island in Kepulauan Seribu to reduce waste contamination in the mainland and end up in the ocean.

"We realize that the solution of plastic waste problem in Indonesia should be done through multi-stakeholder collaboration," he concluded

In this RBU, the garbage is then sorted, washed and chopped to then sent to the H & M production facility to be processed into yarn, then textile materials and fashion products.

"In the period November 2017 to February 2018, the RBU has sent 50,000 Kg of plastic shards. From here then made glove-shaped fashion products are marketed starting in January 2018, "he said.
