INDUSTRY.co.id - Bogor - The President's Special Envoy for Interreligious Dialogue and Cooperation and Civilization Din Syamsuddin said the high-level consultations organized by Indonesia aim to revitalize moderate Islamic insights or Islamic wasathiyah.
"We revitalize the insights of Islamic wasathiyah and from Indonesia we want to streamline this insight," said Din in his opening speech at the Garuda Room of the Presidential Palace of Bogor, West Java, Tuesday (5/1/2018)
Din has opened the event in front of President Joko Widodo and Grand Sheikh Al Azhar Ahmad Muhammad Ath Thayyib as well as 100 prominent scholars and Muslim intellectuals.
According to Din, there are two things to note in the revitalization of Wasathiyah Islam is a number of Muslim groups who instill Islamic thought that deviates from moderate Islam.
The second thing is the fact that the world community is currently facing uncertainty and world chaos.
"The existence of world damage and the many forms of violence that refers to religion and certain interests," said Din related to the need for Islamic revitalization Wasathiyah.
The Indonesian nation, Din explained, has also implemented moderate Islamic values on the basis of his life.
"I personally feel that Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution and the motto of 'bhinneka tunggal ika' state is also the embodiment of Isathiyah Islam," Din said.
The invitees of the High Religious Consultation of Ulama and the World Muslim Scholars on Wasathiyah Islam held a discussion at the Novotel Hotel, Bogor on May 1-3, 2018.
