Pilot Route Trunojoyo - Pagerungan Island Constrained Airport Status Changes

INDUSTRY.co.id - Sumenep - Pioneer flight with route Trunojoyo Airport - Pagerungan Island, until now can not be realized. This is because they still have to wait for the change of airport status, from special airport to public airport.

"Letter from the Ministry of Finance concerning the change of status of Pagerungan Airport is now on the directorate of the Directorate General of State Wealth (DJKN) We are just waiting for the letter to be dropped," said Head of Unit of Airport Operator of Trunojoyo Sumenep, Indra Triyantono, Wednesday (23 / 5/2018).

Pagerungan Airport in Pagerungan Island, Sapeken Sub-district, Sumenep Regency is an airport managed by one of the contractors of cooperation contract (K3S) of oil and gas, namely Kangean Energy Indonesia (KEI). So far, the airport is used only for the interests and smooth operation of the company. Therefore, Pagerungan Airport is categorized as a special airport.

Sumenep District Government has sent a letter of application to the Ministry of Finance, SKK Migas, and Kangean Energy Indonesia (KEI) to utilize Pagerungan Airport as a pioneer aviation airport. SKK and KEI have approved the application. However, the utilization of Pagerungan Airport for pioneer flights must still wait for the certificate of change of airport status.

"If the letter from the Directorate General of State Assets (DJKN) of the Ministry of Finance has come down, then the Minister of Transportation (KM) of Minister of Transportation can change the status of airport," said Indra.

He said that based on the results of checks conducted with the SKK oil and gas, KEI, Regent, and Head of Transportation Sumenep, technically there is no problem with the condition Pagerungan Airport, start 'runway' to several other items.

"The point is, technically, Pagerungan Airport is very feasible to land the pioneer aircraft, no problem for the airport condition," he said.

According to him, the draft of the Minister of Transportation Decree concerning the change of status of Pagerungan Airport has been prepared. Just waiting for a letter from the Ministry of Finance, because it is related to the use of assets of the Ministry of Finance.

"So we are still waiting, but we and the local government plan to come to the ministry of finance, to ask for certainty of the declining letter of change of airport status, because during the airport feasibility survey, the ministry promised, before Eid Pagerungan Airport status change is complete," he explained.
