INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Siemens presents a new fast train concept at InnoTrans 2018 festival, the largest rail technology exhibition in the world. Velaro Novo is updating the efficiency and sustainability standards and offers the best comfort and convenience for passengers. Siemens has built this high-speed technology in various countries.
"Velaro Novo is our answer to the global demand for high-speed transportation. This latest train car opens a new leaf for Velaro's success by offering more passenger comfort and cost efficiency to the entire life cycle of the train, "said CEO of Siemens Mobility Division through an official statement received by INDUSTRY.co.id on Wednesday (20/6 / 2018).
"What we dedicate today is the result of five years of development: a product that offers optimal energy consumption and maintenance costs, and maximum flexibility and reliability," Soussan said.
With a speed of 300km / h, this fast train can reduce energy usage by 30 percent compared to previous Velaro models, which on average save 1,375 tons of CO2 per year.
Thanks to the new construction, the weight of the train is reduced by 15 percent. It also increases the space for passengers by as much as ten percent. The body of the vehicle is designed with the concept of an empty tube that eliminates the permanent installation inside the vehicle and enables interfronting according to the customer's wishes.
This configuration option makes Velaro Novo more updated and flexible, the train can be tailored to the new needs of the operator even after years of operation. The cost of maintenance is also more efficient through the integration of state-of-art measurements and sensor technology.
Siemens has been testing various components of this new fast train since April 2018. The Novo trial process, integrated in ICE S and operated by DB Sytstemtechnik, is currently being deployed across German territory.
Siemens has previously developed four generations of Velaro. This fast train has been operating since 2000 in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, France, China, Russia, the United Kingdom, and Turkey. Velaro's fleet traveled one million kilometers per day. In Germany, Velaro is known as ICE 3 (series 407) operated by Deutsche Bahn AG.
Siemens started the development of the latest concept from Velaro Novo since 2013 and will launch the first train of this series in the year 2023. Siemens pioneered this new concept at the International InnoTrans 2018 exhibition as part of the digitalization effort.
