Karhutla Potentially Rises in Some Areas

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts forest and land fires (karhutla) will potentially increase in some areas.
"Because of rising air temperatures and the number of days without rain has reached 40 days more in some areas of Indonesia, it is predicted there are some areas that have potential karhutla," said Head BMKG Dwikorita Karnawati in Jakarta, Saturday (21/07/2018)
It is also seen from the index of fire potential and observed from observed weather analyzes such as Riau, Jambi and South Sumatra, South Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan, an increase in the area of potential forest fire ease.
"This means that this potential is not static but naturally widespread means that local people are expected to be very vigilant in order not to get this potential will actually happen to burn," he said.
But in addition to the potential increase in karhutla area, in West Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan there is a decrease in the area of potential area, Dwikorita added.
"In general, people are advised to stay alert of potential hydrometeorological disaster that may occur," he said.
He reminded that although the dry season is still possible the rain accompanied by strong winds that cause baliho or trees can be uprooted, people are also advised not under the trees or poles are easily uprooted.
