230 aftershocks occur in NTB Lombok

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) noted that 230 aftershocks occurred after the SR 7.0 earthquake that shook Lombok Island and its surroundings on Sunday (5/8).

Information from the Head of Public Relations of BMKG, Hary Tjatmiko, who was received in Jakarta, Tuesday (07/08/2018) of 230 aftershocks that occurred until 07.00 WITA, was 16 times a strong earthquake.

Recorded aftershocks measuring 5.5 magnitude at 01.21 WIB in the Sumbawa region with the epicenter located at 8.18 South Latitude and 116.29 East Longitude with a depth of 10 kilometers.

While earthquakes with smaller power also continued to occur afterwards, it was recorded at 04.00 to 06.00 WITA that there were nine aftershocks.

BMKG estimates that aftershocks will continue to occur for the next few weeks.

The 7.0 SR earthquake that struck Lombok and Sumbawa Islands was also felt to Bali and East Java.

The quake was called BMKG as the main earthquake of the series of earthquakes that occurred in Lombok before, namely on 29 July 2018 which also damaged and caused casualties when viewed from the relatively similar epicenter.
