INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The Organizing Committee of the 2018 Asian Games (INASGOC) said the preparation for the opening of the 2018 XVIII Asian Games was nearing an end.

INASGOC Chair Erick Thohir said, at present his party only ensures that supporting matters such as electricity, water and wireless internet connection are available without interruption.

"The opening preparation is almost final. All the performers have been practicing including dancers who have been preparing for the last few months, just to ensure smooth electricity, water and 'wifi'," Erick said after the inauguration of the Indonesian contingent for the 2018 XVIII Asian Games in Jakarta on Sunday. (5/8/2018)

He continued, other questions such as transportation and security were also ready with all possibilities to give a sense of comfort to all who came to witness the opening of the 2018 Asian Games.

While related to the procession or defile of the Indonesian contingent at the opening, Erick said that there would be around 1,000 athletes and officials.

However, INASGOC has not been able to ascertain who is the bearer of the Red and White Flag in the defile even though previously word spread that said the assignment would be given to swimmer I Gede Siman Sudartawa.

"It will still be discussed internally," Erick said.

The opening ceremony of the 2018 XVIII Asian Games itself will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018, starting at 19.00 WIB at the Bung Karno Main Stadium, Senayan, Jakarta.

The three-hour event will feature 4,000 dancers and more than 18 singers and hundreds of Indonesian musicians including internationally renowned artists such as Joey Alexander, a 15-year-old jazz musician who was nominated for the 2016 Grammy Awards prestigious music world in 2016 and Anggun C. Sasmi is an Indonesian international singer who is now a French citizen. (Ant)
