Improve Jember Tourism Sector, Notohadinegoro Airport Enhanced Starting 2018

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jember - President Joko Widodo said the government will start improving Notohadinegoro Airport in Jember regency, East Java, starting 2018.

"Jember Airport we have prepared, we will start 2018," said President Jokowi after the delivery of Smart Indonesian Card at SMP Negeri 7 Jember on Sunday.

The airport's upgrades include an extension of the current runway of about 1,800 meters and terminal expansion.

He mentioned that the airport upgrade process in Jember is planned to last for two years or 2019.

The president mentioned the increase in airports in addition to supporting the tourism sector, as well as to direct the airport as a sub embarkation of Hajj. "That's a long runway," he said.

The President mentioned that the planned increase in Jember Airport has been discussed with the Regent of Jember.

"We have delivered yesterday to the Regent of Jember, the budget is central business, it's no problem, we have checked all," he said.

According to him, the current increase in the Jember Airport is live. The budget required is approximately Rp300-450 billion.
