Menteri Keuangan Sri Mulyani Indrawati
INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta, the Government immediately finalizes the import restriction policy on hundreds of products or materials as an effort to respond to the developing economic conditions.
"Yes, we will discuss it. The finalization will be tomorrow. It can be less than 900 (products)," said Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta, Tuesday (04/09/2018).
He said the government was reviewing the ability of the industry to substitute materials because it would take several years to make good in the country.
Therefore, it is necessary to really sort the types of products including raw materials, intermediate goods, or downstream goods that will be restricted in imports.
"The industry is certain that if there are domestic raw materials it will be bought, this is 'working capital' and in terms of efficiency," he said.
He said the government would not give sanctions even if there were industries that had not used local raw materials.
"We will not give sanctions, because the name of our industry does not provide sanctions. If investments are actually incentives that are encouraged. And domestic content, like this automotive, will benefit a lot," he said.
On the same occasion, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani said that the commodities to be restricted in imports would soon be announced tomorrow afternoon or the day after the Ministry of PMK.
"Already, we will announce the PMK tomorrow afternoon, or Thursday," he said.
