INDUSTRY.co.id - Garut - Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman monitors the Prosperous People's Poverty Surgery Program (Working), which is an agriculture-based poverty alleviation program. Monitoring was carried out in Talagawangi Village, Pakenjeng District, Garut Regency.
"This is a program of the Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs, BUMN, Kemendes, BKKBN. In Pakenjeng Subdistrict including remote areas, the President ordered the country to build a country from the periphery so that people in remote areas are prosperous," Amran said at the Location of the Work Program Present at the activities of the Garut Regional Secretary, Rohayati, Garut Police Chief and the poor farming community, Thursday (09/27/2018).
Amran explained that the Work Program was very good because it was carried out in stages, namely short to long term and developed with a cluster system. For the short term, through planting daily commodity crops, namely vegetables. Medium term, with the provision of 50 chickens per pre-prosperous household. The chickens that were given the type of laying were two months old.
"What is said to be poor, the income is less than Rp 1.4 million per month. This year the Ministry of Agriculture has provided 6 million chickens and cages and feed and assistance. 2 times next year. Assistance is also in the form of plantation crops, coffee and horticulture, namely vegetables. So short, medium and long term assistance, "he explained.
Amran is optimistic, through the assistance of the Working Program to be able to prosper the community. For example, chicken cultivation can lay eggs at six months of age as much as 50 grains per day with a productive period of 3 years.
"For 50 eggs per day, the income is Rp. 2 million to Rp. 2.5 million per month. The community pre-prosperes the income of Rp. 1.4 million, plus Rp. 2.5 million, meaning Rp. 3.5 million per month," he said.
"Even so with coffee. After three years of fruiting, can provide additional income. This means that people can escape poverty, "he said.
Therefore, Amran said that the management of the Working Program was carried out with a cluster system. The aim is to build a processed industry that directly processes and markets farmers' food products, so that they are no longer the producers of raw food, but are also able to produce end products that provide greater benefits.
"We build this poverty program with a cluster system. If you need to have 1 type of crop per cluster, because we want an industrial scale. We will build the industry, so coffee is processed directly in the village with industrial packaging. The benefits not only guarantee farmers' income, but also open new jobs, "he said.
Garut Regional Secretary, Rohayati expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Agriculture for distributing the Work Program. The reason is, this program is in accordance with regional needs to alleviate people from poverty.
"The program works targeting 14 sub-districts of 42 total sub-districts in Garut. Garut local government would like to thank the Ministry of Agriculture. in Garut there were 11,381 poor households in the agricultural sector. We believe this program can alleviate poverty in the countryside, "he said.
"We ask all parties to oversee the Work Program so as not to abuse the community. "The help of chickens and other crops is to be properly maintained so that the people get sustainable income," he added.
