INDUSTRY.co.id - The 2021 National Education Day 2021 is the right momentum to reflect on what Indonesia has done and which part of the national education that needs to be improved, according to Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Anwar Makarim.
According to him, this goes hand-in-hand with this year’s theme of the National Education Day of “Move Simultaneously, Create Freedom of Study”.
“A new face of Indonesian education means transformation. The transformation is still based on the history of nation and the courage to create a new glorious history,” Nadiem said on Sunday (02/05) during the commemorative ceremony of the 2021 National Education Day.
“I want Indonesian children to be students who uphold the philosophy of Pancasila (state ideology), to be independent students for lifelong learning, and to be students who are able to meet the future with confidence,” he added.
The Minister also said that there are four aspects in the education sector that need to be improved, namely infrastructure and technology, policies, procedures, funding, as well as autonomy granting for education unit, leadership, community, and culture, and curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment.
This meaningful transformation that is being carried out, Nadiem added, aims to make big leaps and progress, instead of setback.
“We need to understand that COVID-19 is not the only challenge for us. There are still challenges that we will and must surmount in the future. Let us go through all the challenges with innovations and solutions. Let us create a glorious history that is recognized by the whole world.” he said.
Nadiem also called on all public to join hands to make the Merdeka Belajar (Freedom Campus) program a success.
“Let us silih asah, silih asih, silih asuh (educate each other, love each other, protect each other) for one sole purpose: to create professional human resources and to advance Indonesia,” he said.
