INDUSTRY.co.id - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Tuesday (04/05) announced that the Government’s 2022 Working Plan would focus on economic recovery and structural reforms.

The President made the statement during the opening of the National Development Planning Forum (Musrenbangnas) at the State Palace in Jakarta.

On that occasion, the President also reminded that the basic foundation of economic recovery is COVID-19 control.Other aspects, he added, such as Government spending for social assistance, crash programs and public demand are also equally important.

“Yesterday, I reminded that we still have provincial, regency, and city budget in banking sector amounting Rp182 trillion as of March 2021. It should be immediately spent to boost demand and consumption,” President Jokowi said.

The Head of State also pointed out that industrial sector must also be supported to rebound by still observing strict health protocols.

The Government, he added, has carried out massive structural reforms by issuing Law on Job Creation. Therefore, he called on all ministries, agencies, and regional governments to synergize in implementing and utilizing these structural reforms.

The President also called for strengthening of the green economy because Indonesia is one of the largest of the world whose potential wealth of mangrove and tropical forests can still be optimally tapped.

“Transformation to new and renewable energy must begin. We must strengthen green economy, green technology, and green products to compete in the global market,” he said.

Related to the green economy, he added, the Government has announced plan to develop green industrial park in North Kalimantan province by utilizing hydropower from Kayan river. The power plant is targeted to produce green energy, new and renewable energy that will be distributed to green industrial parks in order to produce green products. According to the President, the power plant will be Indonesia’s strength in the future.

Indonesia, which is home to mega biodiversity, has also strength in blue economy, the President said, adding that sustainable blue economy is a vital agenda that must be prioritized in all coastal areas that Indonesia has.

The President further said that Indonesia’s economic growth must also be inclusive and must become an important part of the problem solving of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“Economic growth must be an engine for equitable development and economic justice in regions, villages, and cities. Economic growth must upgrade our MSME in order to be able to compete with products from other countries,” he remarked.
