20 Provinces See Low Compliance with Health Protocols: COVID-19 Task Force

INDUSTRY.co.id - The COVID-19 Handling Task Force has unveiled a report stating that as many as twenty out of thirty-four provinces in Indonesia have a lower level of compliance with health protocols compared to the standard set by the task force.

“The President has ordered me to publish the results of compliance monitoring regarding self-discipline in wearing a face mask in the regions and institutional compliance with the observance of health protocols. Our standard of compliance is 85 percent. As of last week, twenty provinces had an average compliance below eighty five percent,” Head of the COVID-19 Task Force Ganip Warsito said after a limited cabinet meeting held online, Tuesday (06/07).

Provinces with a compliance rate in wearing a face mask below 85 percent are Banten, capital Jakarta, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Aceh, Bengkulu, Bangka Belitung Islands, Lampung, Riau, West Sumatra, South Sumatra, North Sumatra, South Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, Maluku, North Maluku, and Papua.

In the meantime, twenty provinces with a compliance rate in social distancing below 85 percent are Banten, capital Jakarta, Central Java, West Nusa Tenggara, Bengkulu, Jambi, Bangka Belitung Islands, Riau, West Sumatra, South Sumatra, North Sumatra, South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, Maluku, North Maluku and Papua.

Regarding the zoning map of compliance with wearing a face masks, thirty six regencies / cities out of 344 regencies / cities (10.47 percent) are in the red zone (compliance level below 60 percent), 45 regencies / cities (13.08 percent) are in the orange zone (compliance level between 61 to 75 percent), 92 regencies / cities (26.74 percent) are in the yellow zone (compliance level between 76 to 90 percent), and 171 regencies / cities (49.71 percent) are in the green zone (compliance level above 90 percent).

As for the compliance zoning map for maintaining distance and avoiding crowds, forty regencies / cities out of 344 regencies/cities (11.63 percent) are in the red zone (compliance level below 60 percent), 49 regencies / cities (14.24 percent) are in the orange zone (compliance level between 61 to 75 percent), 101 regencies / cities (29.36 percent) are in the yellow zone (compliance level between 76 to 90 percent), and 154 regencies / cities (44.77 percent) are in the green zone (compliance level above 90 percent).

Ganip also underscored that the task force had been taking necessary measures to tackle the spread of COVID-19 including in the micro, regional, and international level, adding that the task force has also issued a regulation on stricter screening for international travelers to prevent imported cases.

“The new regulation stipulates requirement to provide a certificate or a letter declaring that the traveler has been fully vaccinated and the requirement for 8 × 24 hour quarantine. On the seventh day, the second PCR [test] will be carried out, especially for Indonesian citizens or Indonesian migrant workers who have not been vaccinated. The vaccination will be carried out after the second PCR [test],” Ganip said.

Ganip further said that the Government also imposes stricter restrictions on domestic travel to prevent transmission among regions.

“At the micro level, we continue to support personnel at the micro-scale restrictions (PPKM Mikro) posts to carry out prevention and control at the community level, including active surveillance, isolation, quarantine, closing public places, and limiting social activities,” he remarked.
