INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta- State-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina (Persero) noted that high-quality fuel oil (BBM) consumption is increasing as consumer’s awareness of the commodity is also increasing.
Vice President of Corporate Communications of Pertamina Adiatma Sardjito in Jakarta, Monday (21/8/201) revealed high-quality gasoline sales data of both gasoline and diesel types showed an increasingly encouraging progress.
"The higher sales of high quality fuel this indicates the stages Pertamina has run so far 'on the track'," he said.
Pertamina, he added, is committed to continue to meet the needs of consumers and also meet the global demands to be able to provide more environmentally friendly fuel.
According to Adiatma, as an illustration, the portion of high quality and low quality diesel fuel is now experiencing significant changes.
In the period from January to July 2016, the total diesel fuel sales, low-quality diesel, is still 98.9 percent, while the diesel-type, high-quality Pertamina Dex is only 0.9 percent and Dexlite 0.2 percent.
However, in the period from January to July 2017, from total diesel fuel sales, Solar's share was down to 96.8 percent, while Dexlite rose to 2 percent and Pertamina Dex increased to 1.2 percent.
Along with that, he continued, sales of high quality Dexlite type of fuel in the period from January to July 2017 compared to the same period in 2016 increased almost 1,000 percent and Pertamina Dex grew 57.6 percent.
"Based on sales data and a shift in fuel consumption shows consumer awareness of high quality and more environmentally friendly fuel is increasing," he said.
Similarly, Adiatma added high quality gasoline sales especially Pertalite type (RON 90) and Pertamax (RON 92) also experienced a significant increase.
Sales of Pertamite-type fuel during January-July 2017 increased 363.7 percent compared to the same period of 2016.
"The increase in sales of Pertalite is more than triple," he said.
Meanwhile, Pertamax sales increased 53.7 percent compared to the same period of 2016.
"In total, sales of high-quality fuel Pertamax Series (Pertamax, Pertamax Racing and Pertamax Turbo) increased 60.9 percent compared to 2016," he said.
Adiatma also said gasoline sales data for the period of January-July 2016 shows that the low-quality fuel portion of Premium type still reaches 79.6 percent, followed by high quality Pertamax series type of 11.4 percent and Pertalite with only 9 percent.
"However, during January-July 2017, from gasoline sales of 18.8 million kiloliters, the Premium portion slumped to just 41.6 percent, while high-quality Pertamite type fuel jumped dramatically to 40.6 percent and Pertamax series also increased to 17, 8 percent," he said.
In total, according to him, overall fuel sales during the period from January to July 2017 increased 5.7 percent compared to January-July 2016 which consists of gasoline sales up 2.9 percent and diesel increased 12.8 percent.
