Boediman Widjaja Founder JOE Green Group
INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta, Through the cold hands of Boediman Widjaja, waste is no longer just trash but a high-value green product. Processed into eco-friendly building materials, his products now span thousands of prestigious projects in Southeast Asia. From Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Indonesia to the international awards stage, Boediman is leading the green construction revolution.
While the world is busy talking about energy transition and sustainable development, Boediman Widjaja has quietly gone a long way ahead. The founder of JOE Green Group is not only dreaming about the green cities of the future, but realizing them one by one.
By embracing eco-friendly technology and the spirit of innovation, this visionary man has changed the face of the construction industry by producing lightweight wall panels (JOE Green Lightweight Wall Panel and Lightweight Green Aggregates (LiGrA). Super lightweight and environmentally friendly aggregates (stones) make building costs more economical, building construction will be more efficient due to easy construction and beautiful aesthetics.
Besides being more competitive and economical, it also has specifications and quality that are much higher than the general standard such as pressure resistance, impact resistance, heat resistance, soundproofing, waterproofing, airtightness and others.
Over the past two decades, more than 1,000 projects in four countries have been built with JOE Green Group's touch in Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and Cambodia. Ranging from residential areas, business centers, to eco-friendly buildings, they stand firmly with materials from Boediman's long research.
"I believe that building a modern city is not enough to be beautiful. Cities must be sustainable, environmentally friendly and have global competitiveness," said Boediman.
Not just jargon, this vision is realized through JOE Green's flagship products, such as UL Series Panel-an ultra-lightweight wall panel that is environmentally friendly, earthquake-proof, and suitable for the concept of growing houses.
suitable for the concept of house growing.
This product is now a favorite in prestigious projects, both residential neighborhoods and high-rise buildings that combine quality of life with environmental sustainability.
Not stopping there, Boediman continues to encourage his team to innovate to develop new products from LiGrA. Thermal Plaster, Acoustic Panel, Fire and Heat Resistant Concrete, to Lightweight Floating Concrete are a series of products resulting from in-depth research that are not only technically superior, but also have added environmental value.
For example, hazardous and non-economic waste is transformed into high-value building materials.
"We want the construction industry to no longer be a big contributor to pollution. On the contrary, it must be part of the solution to save the earth," said Boediman.
This big vision has also led JOE Green Group to win prestigious awards such as the ESG award (Environmental, Social and Governance). Light Weight Green Aggregates (LiGrA), a lightweight material innovation for floating concrete, won an award at the Annual Seminar of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) Singapore. In the same year, JOE Green received many awards and was named Outstanding 50 Enterprise, SME and won the Golden Bull Award 2024 from Business Media International in Singapore.
Boediman's successful journey is not just about business. Through JOE Green Group, he proves that the use of building materials does not have to sacrifice nature but instead saves the earth from destruction like some places where mountains of rock and sand are flattened.
No less than 1,000 projects in various cities in Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia and lately in Indonesia are tangible proof of his grand vision of building a mutually sustaining business and community ecosystem.
"I want to build more than just buildings. We build ecosystems where people, nature and business can grow together," he says.
Boediman is also known as a bridge that brings together Singaporean and Indonesian entrepreneurs in the spirit of collaboration to build a more advanced Indonesian construction technology.
"I believe, with cross-country cooperation and a common vision, we can create a better future for the construction world," Boediman says optimistically.
Now, at his mature age, Boediman Widjaja shows no signs of slowing down. Instead, he is increasingly eager to push Indonesia towards the global stage through the green construction industry.
A vision that may still be a dream for some, but for Boediman, it has already begun and is ongoing.
"Indonesia has great potential to become a developed country that is connected to the world because Indonesia is rich in nature, but it needs government intervention to make clear laws for industrialists not to pollute and set aside profits for subsidies to treat waste from their final products, especially those that are harmful to health and environmental pollution such as coal waste, bauxite, bottles and glass, ceramics and others," he explained.
According to Boediman, the key is for the government to implement a sovereign legal system to be implemented to industrialists and users to dispose of waste in the provided place.
Unused wastes that tend to be troublesome and pollute the environment will become environmentally friendly and highly competitive materials compared to nature such as granite, sand and others that God provides for free.
"Indonesia is very potential not only for its natural wealth but the waste from natural wealth can still be processed into materials that are even more economical and have better functions so that they can help the construction world build green and sustainable cities and be globally competitive," he concluded.
In the midst of the onslaught of environmental issues and climate crisis, the presence of a figure like Boediman Widjaja is a godsend. He is not only a businessman, but also a future development hero - who believes that concrete and eco-friendly product innovation can save the natural environment.
Many overseas delegations from Hong Kong and Qatar, colleges and polytechnics in Singapore, Malaysia and even Indonesia - President University came to learn about waste treatment and JOE Green Group's environmentally friendly products.
Even students of President University - Cikarang and Calvin Institute of Technology - Jakarta also internship and work at JOE Green Group.
"We only have one earth (Just One Earth) that we live on, so it is our duty to protect our earth for all generations of our children and grandchildren," concluded Boediman Widjaja.
