Propan Raya Expansion Rp250 Billion Produce Environmentally Friendly Paint

INDUSTRY.co.id - Tangerang- The domestic paint industry is increasing its competitiveness in order to be able to compete in local and global market. This step is realized by PT Propan Dekorindo Raya, a subsidiary of PT Propan Raya by expanding its factory to produce water-based environmental friendly paint products (water based).
"We appreciate this expansion as a commitment to innovate and increase investment in Indonesia," said Director General of Chemical, Textile and Multifarious Industries (IKTA) of the Ministry of Industry, Achmad Sigit Dwiwahjono during the inauguration of the factory of PT . Propan Dekorindo Raya in Tangerang, Banten (5/9/2017).
The new plant, which will invest Rp250 billion, will have a production capacity of 100 thousand tons per year. The existence of this brand-new facility, Propan Raya has three factories with a total production capacity of 200 thousand tons per year.
According to Sigit, the domestic paint industry prospects are still quite bright as the incessant development of property is driven by the government. In fact, the paint industry also plays an important role in supporting other industries such as furniture industry, the toy industry of wood and other creative industries.
"Therefore, we hope PT Propan Dekorindo Raya can cooperate with other business actors, thus reducing the import of similar products while saving the country's foreign exchange," he said.
On the other hand, President Director of PT Propan Raya, Hendra Adidarma admitted that water-soluble paint is more environmentally friendly than solvent-based paint.
"In addition to being environmentally unfriendly, solvent based paints also contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that are harmful to both the body and the environment.With switching to water-based paint, solvent emissions can be suppressed," he explained.
Meanwhile, CEO of PT Propan Raya, Kris Rianto Adidarma revealed, the new factory will be operated with the latest technological machines and the latest named Rapid Production System (RPS) originating from Germany.
"This technology is the only technology available in Asia Pacific with this technology, the whole process of production to finished goods, will be more environmentally friendly," he explained.
According to Kris, RPS technology is only used in two countries, namely in Germany and one factory in Indonesia owned by PT Propan Raya. "The advantages of RPS technology are capable of producing very fast, which is 25 tons per batch within four hours, and the products are consistent and stable, flexible and space saving," he said.
PT Propan Raya is a market leader in the field of wood powder (wood finish), even a wood paint supplier for export-oriented national companies. Propan has also started to develop products such as wall paint, paint iron, natural stone paint, car paint, to paint the ship.
