INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - President Joko Widodo wants the institution of the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) to be strengthened due to the increasing number of illegal drug and drug trafficking among the public.
"So we want BPOM to be strengthened, by what? With the law that its supervision is more intensive and the recommendation actually runs its recommendations, it is supervised, controlled, checked, but its recommendations are not used," said President Joko Widodo (Jokowi ) in the event of the National Action of Illegal Drug Eradication and Drug Abuse in the Field of Campground and Graha Wisata Cibubur, East Jakara, Tuesday (3/9/2017)
For that, he said, in the future will be prepared regulations related to it.
Because, according to him, strengthening the POM one of them can be done through the issuance of legal umbrella in the form of law.
"This is what we will prepare because we see weaknesses on the side of the law," he said.
The President asserted that the role of BPOM is increasingly important in preventing the circulation of illegal drugs and drugs in the community.
"I see the growing importance of the role of POM to protect our society and our young generation from drug abuse," he said.
Furthermore, he reminded that the supervisory function held by the POM is not only an administrative matter.
