INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Drug and Food Supervisory Agency (BPOM) on Monday (11/27/2017) launched 10 car investigations to strengthen law enforcement related violations in the field of food and medicine.
"This investigation car is a special place that is 'mobile' in conducting activities in the process of projustitia criminal acts of medicine and food," said BPOM chief Penny Lukito in Jakarta on Monday According to Penny Lukito, the presence of the car became one of the breakthrough role of law enforcement in the field of medicine and food especially for areas that are difficult to reach or require immediate treatment.
She said the investigation car was part of strengthening the prosecution of BPOM against drug and food-related violations.
The reinforcement of BPOM through the enforcement car is in line with the newly established Deputy for Counterparty Deployment this year according to Presidential Regulation No. 80 of 2017 on the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency.
"The existence of this Deputy Prosecutor can optimize coordination among law enforcement officers within the framework of 'Integrated Criminal Justice System' (ICJS) to prevent, counter and combat drug and food crime," she said.
Penny said the law enforcement car has functions such as for the filing of witnesses and / or suspects, completion of several administrative investigations up to the quick test of some allegedly illegal goods.
In maintaining the integrity of civil servant investigators (PPNS), he said, the enforcement car also has a surveillance camera (CCTV) that can record all PPNS activities in the examination of witnesses / suspects so that all actions taken can be accounted professionally.
He said there were 10 investigation cars deployed to several areas including the Food and Drug Investigation Center, POM Center in Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya, Medan, Banjarmasin, Pekanbaru, Makassar and Balai POM in Serang.
"This is considering that the aforementioned hall has the most coverage area with the highest level of difficulty and furthermore it is expected that in every big hall or Balai POM throughout Indonesia will have car investigation to support the smoothness of law enforcement process in the field of medicine and food," she said.
BPOM data shows that up to October 2017, there were 212 drug and food violation cases dominated by traditional drug-related violations without distribution permit (TIE) / illegal.
"Therefore, the POM is committed to continually improving surveillance even to remote areas throughout the country in ensuring the safety, efficacy and quality of drugs and food in circulation," she said. (Ant)
