INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) strengthens the exchange of information with cross-institutional and community elements to improve supervision of drug and food circulation.
In the last three months there has been cross-sectoral strategy exchanges and strategic reviews, BPOM Chief Penny Lukito said on the sidelines of the National Cross-Sectance Meeting on Illegal Drug Eradication and Drug Abuse in Jakarta, Friday
The launching of the National Action on Illegal Drug Eradication and Drug Abuse by President Joko Widodo on October 3, 2017 shows the protection of the society from illegal drugs and drug abuse more effectively if done together.
The declaration of National Action is carried out through three strategies, namely prevention, detection, and response.
"This consistent and persistent strategy must be done because they are the distributors and producers of illegal products also have the endurance that must be anticipated," said Penny.
She said prevention strategies are conducted through communication, information and education (KIE) to the public to raise awareness of the dangers of illegal drugs and drug abuse.
The national action is carried out with cross-sector coordination such as Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Communication and Information, Police, Attorney General, National Narcotics Agency, Directorate General of Customs and Excise, related ministries / agencies, business and society.
She said the prevention of production and distribution of illegal products can be done early as by preventing the circulation of raw materials. That, of course cannot be done alone by BPOM and government elements, but also with the participation of business and society.
In the series of the action, Penny said it is also necessary to educate the public about the importance of keeping away from illegal and dangerous products.
Therefore, BPOM also holds the world of education so that it can participate in entering the subject matriculation to students about the danger of illegal products.
