INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Vice President Jusuf Kalla emphasized the importance of the OIC's summit on Jerusalem as a moment of unity of Arab states in the struggle for independence and the rights of Palestine.
"So how do the Islamic countries, including the Arab countries of course, unite between Hamas with Fatah is then united against Israel," said JK at the Office of Vice President, Jakarta, Tuesday (12/12/2017)
The Vice President added that from the beginning Indonesia has always encouraged the unity of the Islamic world and the Arab countries to fight for Palestine, among others by holding an Al-LB Summit on Al Quds Al Sharif in 2016 to respond to Israeli occupation in East Jerusalem.
"The Arabs have always been resolutions, constants, conferences, inexhaustible, but their own concrete actions to resolve the Palestinian conflict do not exist, which is the most important thing," he said.
In relation to President Joko Widodo's departure to Istanbul, Turkey, to attend the OIC-LB Summit on Jerusalem on December 13, 2017, the Vice President said the president's presence showed full support for Palestine.
"You know that from the very beginning of Indonesia it supports Palestine and it will continue to be fostered to consequently exercise the interests of Palestinian rights, whether that is in its history or whether it was decided by the United Nations, there are many UN resolutions on it," he said.
According to the vice president, in addition to calling for the unity of the Islamic world, Indonesia will also emphasize the urgency of the unity of the two Palestinian factions, Hamas and Fatah, both of which have agreed to hold elections by 2018.
On Tuesday, at 11.00 am, Vice President JK brought President Jokowi and First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo to Istanbul to the OIC-LB Summit held to respond to the United States' recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel on Wednesday (6/12).

Meanwhile Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi has been in Amman, Jordan since Monday (11/12) to meet Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al Maliki in preparation for the OIC-LB Summit in Istanbul. (Ant)
