INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The government is considered necessary to intensify market operations in various regions to reduce rice prices that have increased recently.
"Traders should not sell rice beyond the highest retail price, but if the facts are like that, then the drug market operation," said member of House Commission IV Ibnu Multazam in a release in Jakarta, Wednesday (10/11/2018).
To that end, he said, the government must intensify market operations in order to suppress the jump in rice price hike which reached its highest point in early 2018.
PKB politicians are reminded, the increase in grain prices actually bring benefits to farmers, but also resulted in many consumers who complain.
In addition, he wants Bulog to absorb rice from the farmers as it is harvest time so the price should be normal.
Earlier, the Central Bureau of Statistics said the average price of medium rice at the milling level in December 2017 rose by 2.66 percent to Rp9,526 per kilogram compared to November.
Head of BPS Suhariyanto in Jakarta, Tuesday (2/1), said that the increase in rice prices, especially the quality of the medium in December 2017 is due to an increase in demand from the community.
The average increase of rice price not only occurs in medium quality rice only. However, premium rice also increased to Rp9,860 per kilogram, up 3.37 percent compared to the previous month.
