INDUSTRY.co.id - Mojokerto - Perum Bulog Sub Divre II of South Surabaya Region, Taufik Budi Santoso confirmed if the central government's plan to import imported rice to East Java (East Java) is only transit. So that people are not appalled with the plan.

"East Java is only transit, imported rice is not circulating in East Java," said Taufik, Wednesday (14/2/2018).

Taufik said imported rice for the needs of people in eastern Indonesia which is an area with minus needs, such as Maluku and Papua. But Taufik justify, if the imported rice will be imported from abroad through East Java.

"Imported rice for the needs of people in eastern Indonesia, East Java only transit because if directly distributed from countries sending facilities and infrastructure is not adequate," he said.

He added that there are three largest ports that will be the imported rice line, Belawan in Medan, Tanjung Perak in Surabaya and Tanjung Priok in DKI Jakarta.

The imported rice is only transit and will be thrown into the area in need. For the amount, not yet ascertained but if the warehouse in Buduran, Sidoarjo is not sufficient then it will be deposited around it.

"There is no possibility of warehouse in Mojokerto but only transit because East Java imported rice destinations do not circulate in East Java, although in 2015 we ever get imported rice, so there is influence in East Java because the local rice is still sufficient," he said.
